The brainchild of local resident Sian Thomas, Richmond’s Christmas Day Dinner is planning another magical Christmas Day this year in Richmond for 50 local young people, aged 18-25, who have recently left the care system.
The project believes that no young care leaver should have to spend Christmas Day alone, and so their goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment, complete with traditional lunch, lovely gifts and festive fun. And they're asking you to get involved! Last year, 50 young people were invited to Richmond to enjoy a delicious Christmas Day Dinner to help create a special day for young people who may never have had this experience before, or negative experiences during Christmas.
Christmas is a time for giving, and it's this time of year where we really think of others and want to give back. So, why not do something extra special this Christmas and dedicate some of your time by giving back to the community. In previous years, I have volunteered on Christmas day and it not only brought joy to other but made the day more memorable and meaningful for me.
