Local Kingston artist Richard Williams will be exhibiting his latest work at the Rose Theatre in Kingston Feb 11-23 to raise money for Royal Marsden Hospital where he has been receiving palliative chemotherapy

In the summer of 2015 Richard was diagnosed with cancer. He has been receiving palliative chemotherapy as a patient of the Royal Marsden Hospital since that time.
The Poetry of Painting is an exhibition of some of Richard Williams’ new art works. The centrepiece of the exhibition is seven paintings each of which is a response to a poem by T S Eliot.
Four of these paintings are a group which visualise Eliot’s greatest poetic work, the Four Quartets. Three paintings form a triptych visualising themes from Eliot’s anthology of Selected Poems.
The exhibition will also showcase some of the drawings that Richard completed during the days that he has spent at hospital receiving chemotherapy.
The exhibition is dedicated to the staff of the Royal Marsden Hospital who have supported Richard during his treatment. All proceeds of sale arising from the exhibition will be donated to the Royal Marsden Hospital Charity.
During the exhibition there will be a series of events hosted by Pullingers a local art shop (Kingston and Epsom). These will enable anyone interested to make their own art works in response to poetry. Students of Kingston University will give live readings of T S Eliot’s poetry. The T S Eliot society will be holding a seminar event. Framing of drawings for sale during the exhibition is being provided pro bono by the Kingston Framing Company (Fife Road, Kingston).
