Donations can be made from 12th– 23rd November at London Safestore Centres & Tube Stations
Safestore is one of the UK's largest self-storage companies with over 118 stores across the country and two business centres. And this Christmas, they're marking their 7th year supporting The Wrap-Up London campaign. The campaign aims to keep the homeless warm in this very cold period. And since its launch in 2011, they have collected over 103,000 coats and have distributed 24,000 coats to over 100 charities, homeless shelters, vulnerable women and children centres, elderly people in need and refugees.
And there's something you can do to help! Safestore is urging people throughout the community and the entirety of London to help dig out any of their old, neglected coats that may be hidden at the back of closets, or even your current coat if you're expecting a new one this Christmas. I don't know about you, but I have about five old coats I can give away to those who need it more!
Donations can be made from 12th-23rd November at London Safestore Centres & Tube stations (between 7-11am at Broadgate Circus, Canary Wharf, King’s Cross, Liverpool Street, London Bridge, Victoria and Waterloo), or even dropping into their storage unit in Clapham.
“With so many people homeless on the streets of London, sadly some of the most vulnerable people will not have the luxury of wearing a coat this winter. With this figure only set to rise, we are very passionate about supporting Wrap Up London as they are working so hard to provide comfort and care for those in need. Last year we donated over 20,000 coats to the homeless in London and we hope to donate even more this winter.” Shahid Kadodia, Digital & Marketing Director Safestore
Jon Meech, CEO, Hands on London, says: “The cold winter months ahead can be incredibly tough for those sleeping rough, or in need and Hands On London’s Wrap Up London is hoping to offer support and compassion to those desperately in need.
“We sincerely appreciate the allocation of space from Safestore, which enables our volunteer teams to easily sort through and package up the thousands of coats donated to us for those who are vulnerable and in need. The charity initiative will help those in need across the country at a time when they need it most. The generous support of Safestore will enable us to sort and distribute over 24,000 warm coats to those most in need this winter.”
