Case Studies
Mr Hall (91) Roof Coating
Mr Hall is a 91-year-old pensioner who was mis-sold a painted roof product from a company called Thermal Coatings. The product was sold as a ‘thermal coating’ despite it having no thermal benefit or energy saving capability at all. In reality, the product is nothing more than an aesthetic and decorative treatment if done properly.
Mr Hall like many other consumers was promised that thermal coating would save him up to 29 per cent on his fuel bills; he was told it that it was so efficient the product would pay for itself and it would increase the value of his home. Unfortunately all of these claims are lies, and are generally used to pressure consumers into placing orders. In addition, Mr Hall was promised a comprehensive 10 year guarantee, which it turns out was not valid as the company, Thermal Coatings was liquidated in 2014.
Mr Hall contacted Hydrogard Legal Services FREE and we won Mr Hall a full refund plus interest totalling £9,650.00
Mrs Russell (73) Roof Coating
Mrs Russell is a 73-year-old pensioner who was cold-canvassed by Thermal Coatings. She was coerced into agreeing to an appointment in her home (now banned under the Consumer Rights Act, 2015). Having agreed to the appointment, Mrs Russell was told many things about the Thermal Coating roof product. She was led to believe that it was so effective it would pay for itself and she was also told it would increase the value of her home. Even worse, Mrs Russell was informed that the roof would be renovated, leaving her home secure.
Unfortunately after Thermal Coatings carried out the work, the roof leaked, the renovation work promised was not completed and she needed to get another local roofing company to sort out the problems. Mrs Russell was promised a comprehensive 10 year guarantee, which was not valid as Thermal Coatings was liquidated in 2014.
Mrs Russell contacted Hydrogard Legal Services FREE and we won Mrs Russell a full refund plus interest totalling £6,523.00
