
Peter James coming to Guildford book festival
The eagerly awaited Guildford Book Festival is fast approaching and tickets to see some of the country’s most profound authors are selling fast
This year’s highlights include appearances by Peter James, author of the ‘world’s first electronic novel’ and fellow multi-million best selling authors Kate Mosse and Conn Iggulden.
Peter James, most famous for The Roy Grace series has had his work published in 36 different languages and in 1994, made publishing history when his novel Host was published on two floppy discs. Peter will be talking about his latest work and his upcoming ventures.
Following the tremendous success of the Languedoc Trilogy (number one best-seller in forty countries), Kate returns to Guildford to share her new collection of short stories The Mistletoe Bride, while Conn will be discussing the epic beginning of his new series Wars of the Roses and introducing the first book, Stormbird.
Other award winning authors coming to the town include Joanne Harris, Lesley Pearse, Katie Fforde, Lisa Jewell, Adele Parks and Richard & Judy Book Club sensation Rachel Joyce. Adding an edge to the programme will be crime-writing masterminds - Mark Billingham (The Dying Hours), Christopher Brookmyre (Flesh Wounds) and Peter James (Dead Man’s Time).
Fiction continues to be celebrated with the Coffee Shop Book Club featuring four of its contributing authors - Elizabeth Buchan, Fanny Blake, Penny Vincenzi and Cathy Kelly.
Budding authors looking to get published will get a rare opportunity to meet Alysoun Owen, Editor of the Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook.
More must-see events feature fascinating biographies. Renata Calverley offers a moving memoir of her wartime childhood - her journey from the Polish ghetto, via hideouts and a bleak orphanage, to eventually being reunited with her father in England, while Jonathan Aitken discusses Margaret Thatcher: Power and Personality and gives a rare glimpse into the life of this complex woman.
The Festival will end in the company of critically acclaimed author
Sebastian Faulks, as he presents Jeeves and the Wedding Bells, to P.G. Wodehouse.
