Get in the mood with food and drink designed to celebrate the royal wedding. Alice Cairns serves up
Whether you’re watching the wedding at home on TV, or planning an elaborate, bunting-strewn street party, chances are you’ll need snacks. Luckily for you, big brands and local companies alike are putting their own delicious twists on the wedding theme. Try getting your teeth into these...
Fudge makes a brilliant party snack

The Eton Fudge Shop will be stocking a commemorative box for the royal wedding, complete with not one, but two handmade slabs of fudge! Included will be a slice of its bestselling Eton Mess fudge to represent Harry’s time at school, complemented by a creamy American cheesecake flavour in honour of his American bride-to-be.
The Fudge Kitchen in Windsor is also offering a range of wedding themed treats. They’ll be serving chocolate and Chambord fudge, topped with a chocolate crown, as well as a lemon and elderflower fudge finished with a shimmer of edible glitter.

There’s also Gin&’er gin!

A collaboration between Oak Taverns Ltd in Oxfordshire and the Queen Charlotte pub in Windsor. The pub already serves over 100 different gins, including Guildhall Island Gin, named after the cobbled area in which both the pub and Windsor Castle stand. Gin&’er gin has been specially distilled to commemorate the royal wedding: its fiery flavour is a cheeky reference to Harry’s auburn locks.
Expect a blend of organic lemon peel, lime flower and ginger, served with tonic or ginger ale and a garnish of fresh ginger. The gin is limited edition, so grab your bottle quickly. Bottle number one will be auctioned off for a charity of Harry’s choice.
A street party wouldn’t be complete without cake...

...and national brands are really getting in on the action. Mr Kipling is releasing three themed treats – bridal fancies, princely pies and wedding whirls – all of which come in packaging adorned with Union Jacks.
Iceland is going one step further, selling a full-on replica of the royal wedding cake, delicately flavoured with lemon and elderflower and decorated in the signature style of Violet Cakes (the bakery owned by royal wedding cake maker Claire Ptak). It boasts a thick layer of white icing, three edible pearls and a scattering of pretty flowers.
If you’d like to make your own cake, you could try a Victoria sponge sandwiched with buttercream and Tiptree jam – the Queen’s favourite jam and holder of the Royal Warrant. The strawberry and champagne flavour seems appropriately festive.

And if you’d prefer to source your cakes locally...

...there are plenty of tasty options. Limes Bakery in Windsor, just a stone’s throw from the castle, will be selling red, white and blue cupcakes as a nod to both the British and American elements of the wedding.
Patty Cakes in Windsor, meanwhile, sells a delicious range, with all cakes handmade by American-born baker Patricia Easter. Her chocolate cake is a real family favourite.
And, for an unconventional choice, Tastes Deli in Eton sells cheese tower cakes. Expect several tiers of delicious cheeses surrounded by piles of ripe fruit – a quirky and untraditional treat.

Want to celebrate with something stronger?

You’re in luck! Windsor & Eton Brewery (recently awarded the Royal Warrant) first brewed Windsor Knot beer to celebrate the nuptials of Will and Kate.
Now comes an updated version using barley grown on the royal farms at Windsor, as well as a special blend of British hops called Invicta in recognition of Prince Harry’s role in creating the Invictus Games. There’s also some American West Coast hops and champagne yeast as a finishing touch.
The result is a pale ale that’s fresh and full of character: the perfect celebratory tipple.
