It’s one for my baby and one more for the road in this cocktail of jazz standards and storytelling. A new take on an old tragedy, with a twist.
LynchPin Productions Theatre Company’s ScripTease and WriteOne present a rehearsed-reading of a script premiere
you give me Fever - the Phaedra cabaret
by Jack Lynch
and with Pippa Winslow as 'Fey'
With continued commitment to presenting new works by local playwrights, LynchPin Productions Theatre Company’s ScripTease is proud to present you give me Fever – the Phaedra cabaret, a new cabaret-style play by local playwright and director Jack Lynch.
Phaedra is one of the classic tragic heroines of Greek theatre. But you’ve not heard her tragedy like this before, complete with a twist at the end. It’s a classic story backed up by some classy jazz standards and tasty cocktails.
Local author and director Jack Lynch has directed many of the ScripTease events and was instrumental in starting these rehearsed readings. His play Consider This…, was seen at The Electric Theatre in 2013. With Edie Campbell he wrote and directed Emily Dickinson & I – The Journey of a Portrayal, which had its premiere at The Yvonne Arnaud’s Mill Studio and continued to tour the UK, Europe and North America to great critical acclaim.
West End actress and singer Pippa Winslow (The Phantom of the Opera, Strangers on the Train) will be appearing as ‘Fey’, the heroine of our story. Pippa is currently appearing in the UK Tour of The Sound of Music, taking advantage of the short break between bookings. Her last solo cabaret sold out during its run at Yvonne Arnaud’s Mill Studio and garnered five star reviews including “Pippa held the audience in the palm of her hand with her great humour and her natural gift of enchanting a crowd” – Surrey Life, “Pippa dazzled the audience from start to finish” – A Younger Theatre; “Winslow knows how to ‘wow’ her audience through natural ease with both comedy and song” – West End Wilma.
ScripTease presents Readers Theatre events to expose little-performed or new plays through rehearsed public readings giving playwrights the opportunity to test new work with professional actors in front of a live audience. Jack and Pippa will be available for a post-show discussion with the audience after performances on both the 23rd and 24th.
