YMCA Sleep Easy
Will you sleep rough so others don't have to? One night can make a lifetime of difference.
Join YMCA St Paul's Group on Friday 26 March from 7pm to 7am Saturday 27 March for our first ever “Virtual Sleep Easy” event.
In previous years, YMCA Sleep Easy events have seen more than 7,000 people sleep rough to raise over £1.5m for local YMCA services that help young people rebuild their lives. In ordinary times, this would have involved groups and individuals sharing the evening outside and together experiencing the harsh realities of life on the streets. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and for the safety of our participants, this year we will be hosting our Sleep Easy virtually!
We are asking you to spend one night sleeping somewhere other than your bed, such as your garden, lounge, hallway or other safe space.
We are trying to raise as much money as possible for our supported accommodation projects, so we are encouraging you all to get your friends and family to sponsor you for taking part! Don’t forget to set up a fundraising page and share the link with your friends, family and network.
What is Sleep Easy?
The aim is simple: spend a night challenging yourself to sleep rough, raising money to help change the lives of local people across London and beyond.
Although we can’t all be together this year, we are hoping you will still join us virtually by choosing your own unusual place to spend one night sleeping rough. This could be your garden, garage or even your sofa however you can challenge yourself to spend one uncomfortable night to raise vital funds so many others don’t have to sleep rough.
Where do the funds go?
YMCA St Paul's Group is the largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for around 1,200 residents each night.
As well as accommodation, care homes, education and training, our Charity is focused on the transformation of communities through its Health and Wellbeing Centres, children, youth and family programmes including nurseries, after school clubs and soft play centres. Our work spreads across West, East, South West, South London and into parts of Surrey and Berks (Slough).
