Wildlife Photography - Wildlife Courtship
Fri 29 April
Love is in the air!
Capturing wildlife and avian courtship certainly has its challenges but is a hugely rewarding time of year to take dramatic photographs. In the bonding process some birds will preen each other, while others will dance or display their finest skills and attributes to impress a mate. This is also the time to see birds gathering twigs and debris to build nests for their young.
Photographer Jackie Rado will guide you through a practical and hands on photography workshop. You will learn the art of anticipation and recognising patterns of behaviour in order to capture fleeting moments of striking beauty. Often there isn’t a moment to spare and from a photographic perspective being ready and prepared is key. We will cover creative aspects of photography, as well as technical details such as freezing the action, tracking your subject and knowing how to expose correctly for a variety of fast-moving behaviours and situations.
This workshop is ideal if you have foundation knowledge in how to use your camera but would like to develop your skills. Each day is a mixture of classroom learning with outdoor hands-on practice and plenty of time for 1-2-1 tuition. Content details will be tailored to the specific interests and experience of the course attendees on the day.
Please bring your camera with fully charged batteries and formatted memory cards. Longer lenses are helpful if you have one, but not essential. We take advantage of the variety of wildlife displaying courtship behaviour in the beautiful setting around the Wetlands, using the wildlife and nature as our subjects, including ducks, grebes, coots and crows.
