In this course we will look at at least ten houses that have been featured on film and TV sets in the last few years. We will analyse the architecture, dip into the history of the house concerned and see just where and how they appeared on the screen. Houses to be considered include: Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey), Ham House (Anna Karenina and others), Knole (A game of shadows), Broughton Castle (Shakespeare in love), Joldwynds (Poirot) , Laycock Abbey (Wolf Hall and Harry Potter), Cliveden (Hampstead), Claydon (Far from the Madding Crowd), Petworth House (Mr. Turner), Basildon Park (Pride and Prejudice) plus others. Most houses are in the Home Counties for ease of visiting.
