SUMMER this year may have been a bit of a washout, but the mellow fruitfulness of autumn is almost upon us, and Walton on Thames locals are to get a seasonal helping of continental cheer to warm the cockles when a popular travelling French market returns to town.
From Friday 18th to Sunday 20th September, The Heart shopping centre will ring to the sounds of French accents (as well as some from Spain Italy, Morocco and other exotic locations!), as a popular group of travelling market traders return to Walton town centre for the first time since June.
With over 20 stalls selling everything from the finest French cheeses, saucisson, crepes, bread and snacks to Spanish paella, Moroccan couscous, and Italian confectionery, this colourful and varied market is bound to have something for every taste.
The market returns to Walton as part of its annual tour of the home counties, the midlands and the south coast. Organised by international market event operators Savoir Fayre Ltd, this highly-rated market owes its ongoing appeal to the quality and authenticity of the traders and their merchandise.
All the traders are handpicked for their experience and professionalism and fully accredited so top quality goods and friendly service are assured.
Stalls will be packed to bursting with authentic, top quality continental foods, objets d’arts and fashion items. There’ll be a delicatessen stall, with a range of exquisite artisanal terrines, patés, charcuterie and cured meats. There’ll be freshly baked French bread, and the finest continental sausages and cheeses. There’ll be paella, couscous and fajitas.
For those of a more sweet-toothed disposition (and their children), there’ll be no shortage of temptations, with croissants and crépes (both sweet and savoury), Italian confectionery, candy, fudge, pastries, viennoiserie, baklava, nougat, Turkish Delight and fruit & nuts.
And it’s not just edible goodies, there’ll also be glass, chine and pottery, soap from Marseille, hats, scarves, handbags, purses and much more.
