Titian was quite simply one of the greatest artists of his, and perhaps even of any time. Based in his beloved Venice, his patrons were the most powerful men in the world. They were also rich – they had to be to afford him. His legacy however, rests in HOW he painted. It was in complete distinction to the Tuscan and Flemish traditions.
