Olim Kamalov will hold the first UK solo exhibition of Tajik art at trendsetting wellbeing centre, Bhuti, from the 4th of November until the 3rd of December. The exhibition will feature nearly 30 works of his art, including paintings on canvas and traditional miniature paintings on paper. Six of the works displayed are to be acquired by the British Museum’s Islamic Collections during his visit.
Kamalov is one of the few miniaturists in Tajikistan who has his own specific interpretation of classical Persian miniature art. He combines the serene perfection of old miniature with elements of modern art and contemporary plots. Although his art-works cover many themes, both contemporary and traditional, he likes to keep alive medieval artistic methods.
