Swan Lake – the greatest of all romantic ballets
Directed and choreographed by former Bolshoi Theatre Ballet Dancer, Konstantin Uralsky
Featuring an impressive cast and accompanied by a large live Orchestra with over 30 musicians
Their annual Ballet Tour in the UK is always a joy to behold and highly anticipated.
From the rich culture and ancient culture of Astrakhan, on the banks of the Volga River, the renowned Russian State Ballet and Opera House returns with a new vibrant, stunning and enchanting ballet production which will captivate and delight the whole family.
Another Tchaikovsky favourite featuring some of ballet’s most memorable music, Swan Lake is an all-time Russian classic, overflowing with evocative orchestrations and breathtaking dance.
The familiar story tells of a princess who is turned into a swan by an evil curse. The spectacular choreography allows the company’s dancers to demonstrate their brilliant skills to full effect.
Highlights of the ballet include the charming Dance of the Little Swans performed on the shores of a moonlit lake as well as sweeping ballroom waltzes set in the splendour of the Royal Palace.
Swan Lake is full of mystery and romance and has captured the imagination of generations over the years. It continues to attract worldwide audiences, young and old.
You are sure to find this production irresistible.
Alexej Ignatow, producer of The Russian State Ballet & Opera House says:
‘Opera and ballet is often thought to be “difficult” and elitist, but this is not so. Both forms are timeless and, like any art, they need to be presented in an acceptable and attractive way to the audience. This is why we feel it is so important to present our productions in a classical, traditional style that is familiar to all. I always say that opera or ballet is not for everyone; however, everyone should have seen an opera or a ballet once in their lifetime, for a chance to make up their own mind.
With extensive national tours that get our productions seen the length and breadth of the country, we are able to offer regional audiences, in smaller venues an unforgettable experience at a fraction of the price charged by major theatres without sacrificing quality. So, it is very close to my heart to continue working with provincial theatres to deliver top quality productions every year and making new converts wherever we go.'
