The newly-founded Surrey Modern Pentathlon Club has been taken over by a committee of four enthusiastic parents.
Initially established by Pentathlon GB, we have now taken over full control of the Club and are looking to take it to the next level by attracting new members and introducing all five of the disciplines in-house (fencing, running, swimming, shooting and horse riding). Our intention is for the children to learn the technicalities of each discipline whilst working towards the different levels and certification required in an enjoyable atmosphere.
We currently run sessions every Monday during term time at St Teresa’s in Effingham from 6pm to 8.30pm. Classes are open to boys and girls aged 11-18 regardless of ability or experience.
Although St Teresa’s hosts the Club, we are trying to attract children from all over Surrey and introduce them to the sport.
We will be holding a taster session on September 7 2015 where we will have coaches from each discipline and where parents and children can learn more about what is involved.
We are actively looking to engage new members, grow the club and set and reach goals for all the members. They may be especially keen or talented at just one of the disciplines - they do not have to be good at all 5 to be a successful pentathlete!
