Great British Woodshop Summer Holiday Workshops

26th July – Computer Game Rack (Age 11-16), 10.30-3.00pm
Come and make a rack for your games, be they Xbox, WII, PS or DS.
Bring along a selection of your games so you can customise your rack to suit.
You will learn to mark, measure, select timber, hand saw (under supervision) and to use fixings and hand tools. £50 per place
27th July – Vintage BiPlane Shelf (Suitable for ages 11-16 and adults), 10.30am – 3.00pm
Make some shelves for your room in the shape of a vintage BiPlane.
You will use a saw, squares and a scroll saw and will measure, screw and sand. £60 per place
2nd August - Wooden Pencil Case/Bits and Bobs Box (Age 11-16), 9.30am-12.30pm
Come and make your own box which can be used for pencils or your bits and bobs.
You will learn to mark, measure, select timber and use fastenings and hand tools.£25 per place
3rd August – Games Console Holder/Cradle (Age 11-16), 10am-12.30pm
Come and make your own Games Console Cradle.
You will learn to mark, measure, sand, select timber and use hand tools. £25 per place
4th August – Parent and Child Build a Car Challenge and Race (Age 8-16), 10am-12.30pm
Who can make the fastest car? Build and customise your own car then take part in a race down a slope to see who has made the fastest! A sweet prize for the winner. Skills learnt: marking, sawing, sanding, drilling, assembly, painting. £15 per child.
8th August – Boomerang Challenge, Age 8-16 (Age 8-10 must be accompanied by an adult).
10am-12.30pm
Can you make a boomerang that flies? Skills learnt: Jigsaw, sanding station and hand sanding, planning and marking. £25 per child.
8th August – Make a boat that floats, Age 8+ (Age 8-10 must be accompanied by an adult).
2.00-4.00pm
Build and customise your own boat, then put it to the test. Skills learnt: Jigsaw, sanding station and hand sanding, planning and marking. £15 per child.
9th August – Propeller Clock (Age 11-16), 10.30am – 3.30pm
Make a propeller with an inserted clock to hang on your bedroom wall.
You will be using a fret saw, sanders, spoke shaves and a variety of other tools under supervision. You will learn to mark and measure. £60 per place.
10th August – Personalised door plaque (Age 11-16), 10.00am – 12.00pm
Make and personalise your very own door plaque
Skills learnt: Filing, marking out, sanding, creative design, chop saw, router, painting and planning (ALL UNDER SUPERVISION)
£20 per place
10th August – Lap tray (Age 11-16), 2.00-5.00pm
Make your own lap tray to use as a portable mini desk for your laptop or dinner.
You will saw, sand, drill, glue and use clamps and mitres. To personalise you will also learn how to transfer designs to wood. £35 per place.
20th August – Floating shelf (Age 11-16), 9.30am-12.00pm
Make a circular shelf suspended by chain which can be hung inside or outside to display plants. Skills learnt: Mark out, Cutting a circle, Router, cutting chain. £25 per place.
21st August – Make a Birdhouse, age 11-16, 10 am-1 pm
Make a lovely birdhouse for your garden.
Skills learnt: Marking and cutting out, Bandsaw, Sanding station, Drill press, forstner bits, gluing and learning how to use nail guns and pinners (ALL UNDER ONE ON ONE SUPERVISION) £30 per place.
21st August – Secret book hiding place, age 11-16, 2-4.30pm
Is it a book or a secret hiding place…. Skills learnt: Marking out, cutting, mitres, gluing and contact glues, cutting fabric and stapling. £30 per place.
22nd August – Jewellery Box (Age 11-16), 10am-1pm
Make a jewellery box for your treasures.
Skills learnt: Marking out, cutting, box joints, how to make a box, fitting hinges and clasps. Cost £50 per place.
22nd August - Personalised door plaque (Age 11-16), 2.00-4.00pm
