Concerned about plastic pollution of our waterways? Join the Be Richmond Get On Board stand-up paddleboard event from Kew Bridge to Richmond on Friday 21 June.
The main aim of Get On Board is to highlight the problem of plastic pollution in our freshwater system which in turn leads to contamination of the oceans. But it's also about creating a great community event involving residents, workers, charities and schools and having great fun along the way.
Last year 90 paddle boarders plus litter picking groups of around 40 adults and school children collected an estimated 200 kg of plastic waste and litter from the river and towpath between Kew Bridge and Richmond.
For those who want to take part, but prefer to stay on dry land, why not sign up for the towpath litter pick?
Be Richmond are pitching the event as the world's biggest community river clean and they're challenging other towns to prove otherwise.
Signing up couldn't be easier, just visit the event web page for details of the packages available.
