Community Vox presents a day of singing workshops for everyone who enjoys a good sing. The day will comprise of three singing workshops by three accomplished and diverse voice workshop leaders: Delia Rosenboom will teach us some of the beautiful, sacred chants of the Taize Community in France, Alex Haigh will be using his love of classical music to lead a creative vocal improvisation workshop and local conductor Anna Tabbush will be sharing some rousing English folk songs.
Taize Chants are beautiful, inwardly nourishing and uplifting to sing. Delia Rosenboom says: They have a special 'quietening' and healing quality that carries one to a magical place within oneself whilst connecting each of us to something far greater than any one of us alone. These heart-opening songs are sung repeatedly and in doing so a powerful energy is created and the song begins to effortlessly 'sing itself'! This is an opportunity to come and sing and 'bathe in' beautiful, nourishing harmonies and to enjoy an experience of the magic of Taize!
Alex Haigh joined Apollo5 in 2012, before which he had just completed the ENO opera works course as well as his BA and MMus. In his workshops, Alex combines well-known classical motifs with the creativity of his workshop participants to create harmonious musical mayhem. Get ready to unleash your inner Beethoven!
Vivacious choir conductor and singer Anna Tabbush will kick off Spring Sing 2016 in her own energetic style with some rousing traditional English songs. She delivers relaxed and inspiring singing workshops to all ages and abilities in arts centres, festivals, schools and community settings. She also conducts and arranges music for community choirs across the South East including Guildford Vox Community Choir and Horsell Community Choir.
