For their spring production, Runnymede Drama Group is performing Seven Year Twitch, David Lewis’s comedy about marital discord, all witnessed through two key elements of psychotherapy and bird watching
The play starts with Fran arranging a dinner party for guests including her impressive boss Ben. Husband, Terry fails to turn up because he is searching for rare birds in Norfolk.
This is the last straw in their seven year marriage and their friends, therapists and even birds become embroiled in an escalating crisis of marital calamity.
The action takes place in two therapy consulting rooms and involves two therapists, Megan and Charlie, their colleagues and former paramours and their intricately interconnected clientele.
Originally produced and performed at the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond in 2013, David Lewis has created a play which beautifully captures moments of social unease and awkwardness, events that quickly escalate into full blown farce.
As the audience is drawn into the shifting client/therapist dynamic, patients relate their version of events from cleverly contrasting perspectives.
Seven Year Twitch is on at the Riverhouse Barn in Walton-on-Thames, March 25-28
