Performed by the Malden Centre Community Choir and led by conductor Celia Cviic, this is the choir's 6th G&S opera, part of the Malden Fortnight. The show features a quartet of popular and talented guest soloists taking the leading roles. Audiences really enjoy our shows, and the much-loved G&S blend of delightful music, impish humour and fancy costumes certainly makes it great fun to take part! The action of the opera takes place at the Castle of Ruddigore and the neighbouring village of Rederring. The story surpasses even G&S's customary high standard of silliness. The village bridesmaids, to keep their jobs, need to get a wedding organised, but are having great difficulty finding a husband for the fair Rose Maybud. The Baronets of Ruddigore have long been accursed to commit a crime a day or die in agony, but the tender-hearted new Baronet finds the job requirements oppressive, and incurs the wrath of his ghostly ancestors. Now watch and listen on. Tickets: £8 from the Malden Centre, Blagdon Rd, KT3 4TA (tel 020 8336 7770) or on the door.
