Carys Davies
Richmond Orchestra and Amber Emson 1 December 2018
Join Richmond Orchestra, 1 December, for a programme of two contrasting symphonies by two French composers from the 19th Century. The more well known of the two, Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, tells the colourful story through music of an artist in despair facing the unrequited love of his affection. The second, lesser known, Symphonie Espagnole by Edouard Lalo, is a romantic nod to Spanish culture featuring typical Spanish musical motifs at a time when Spanish themed music was at its height of popularity. Today, the Symphonie Espagnole is typically classed as a Violin Concerto. Richmond Orchestra welcome the young, emerging talent of violinist Amber Emson as their soloist for the evening who, at the age of 18, has already begun to achieve international recognition. It will be an evening of vibrant music, paying tribute to two distinctive composers.
