Curzon Film
Everything Went Fine
Francois Ozon’s latest film centres on Emmanuele, as she is confronted with her father's declining health and his request for her help in ending his life with a medically assisted suicide. The film is based on Emmanuele Bernheim’s memoir. It is not, however, a depressing film. Rather than agonising about the ethics of the situation, Ozon’s unsentimental and tender film is interested more in its practical aspects and family issues, resulting in a thoughtful and understated film with some bright moments.
