A Fantastic Woman
RFS's 56th Season opens at The Exchange with the 2018 Foreign language Oscar winner, 'A Fantastic Woman'.
A young transgender woman finds herself viewed with suspicion by both the authorities and blood relatives when her older lover dies unexpectedly. Instead of being comforted in a time of grief, she is shunned and criminalised. A stunning and shocking story set against the background of contemporary Chilean society.
Members go free. Non-member tickets are £5 (full-time students £3) and can be purchased on the night (cash only), in advance from The Exchange’s Box Office (in person or by telephone on 020 8240 2399) or online at http://exchangetwickenham.co.uk/events/
Season 56 Membership
A core objective of RFS (a not-for-profit charity) is to promote and encourage interest in World Cinema as an art form and to make our screenings affordable for everyone in our community. With that objective in mind and in recognition of the loyalty and support of our members over many years, the Committee have decided to reduce the membership fee for Season 56 by one third and to extend the Season from 15 to 16 films.
Accordingly, the cost of membership for next season will be £40, representing an unbeatable bargain of £2.50 per film. You will, therefore, have covered your membership subscription once you have attended 8 of the 16 films in the Season 56 Programme, which commences on 18 September 2018.
The reduction to £40 from the present level of £60 (which has applied for the past five seasons) reflects the substantial growth in our membership and audience figures, particularly this Season. It also represents a return to the 1998 RFS membership fee. The concessionary seasonal membership fee for full-time students in Season 56 will be reduced from £35 to £25.
Membership includes free admission to all 16 screenings, free admission to the Christmas party, input into future film selection and details of other local arts-related events through our affiliation with Arts Richmond.
