Banstead Arts Festival Society is delighted to welcome rising star Raphaela Papadakis, who is a multiple prize-winner including 1st Prize in the National Mozart Competition 2015. Taking as her theme ‘A Woman’s Life and Love’ she makes Schumann’s haunting song cycle the centrepiece of an enticing programme which spans a huge range of emotions. She includes a typically bitter-sweet Poulenc song cycle, songs by those masters of the genre Britten, Wolf and Granados, and also a new work specially written for her last year by Kate Whitley.
The programme comprises:
BRITTEN: Selections from Folksong Arrangements
WOLF: Selections from Italienisches Liederbuch
SCHUMANN: Song Cycle, Frauenliebe und -leben
POULENC: Song Cycle, Fiançailles pour rire
KATE WHITLEY: There is a place
GRANADOS: Selections from Canciones amatorias
