As part of the ongoing Railway 200 celebrations, the Hampton & Kempton Waterworks Railway invites visitors to a special Gala Weekend—an unmissable event for railway enthusiasts, families, and anyone with a passion for steam.
A highlight of the weekend is the heritage locomotive Darent, built in 1903, which will be offering unlimited rides throughout the event. In tribute to the bicentenary of the railway, a striking representation of Stephenson’s iconic 1829 Rocket locomotive will also be on display.
The event promises something for all ages, including a variety of meticulously crafted model railway layouts, vintage 1960s diesel locomotives, and the ever-popular 7¼ inch sit-on train—always a hit with younger visitors.
Admission is just £9 for adults and £5 for children (under-3s go free). Early booking is advised to secure entry slots. Multiple time slots available on the day.
Right next door, the Kempton Steam Museum will be open across the weekend, where visitors can experience the awe-inspiring power of its massive triple-expansion steam engine in full operation.
