Princely Splendour: The Medici and Art in 16th century Florence
Enter a Renaissance world of courtly sophistication! With Florence firmly under Medici princely rule, its art developed a stylish elegance which 20th century art historians christened Mannerism. We explore the paintings of Andrea del Sarto and Pontormo, the sculpture of Cellini and Giambologna and the cool perfection of Bronzino’s portraits, also the art and writing of Vasari, first art historian.
