Powerful Women in Jane Austen’s Fiction
Powerful women, whether they are heroines, sisters or gossips, are vital in Jane Austen’s novels. This exciting course will discuss the role of heroines, sisters, daughters, mothers and female friends as they negotiate their social and domestic role in four of Austen’s most iconic novels: Emma, Northanger Abbey, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility.
No prior knowledge is needed but please read (and bring) all four novels.
