Organist Iain Macfarlane’s recital is part of the Music @ St Martin’s afternoon series. As the church’s resident organist, the fine Norman and Beard instrument is one he knows well. Iain is performing music by local 20th century composer and organist, Charles F Waters, as well as works by Judith Bingham, Ethyl Smythe, Margery Moore and Francis Jackson who died in January this year at the age of 104.
Regular worshipers at St Martin’s have had the privilege of hearing Iain’s playing week by week for many years. He was organ scholar both at Trinity Hall Cambridge and at Guildford Cathedral and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. So here is an opportunity for other music lovers to hear the great Norman and Beard instrument being put through its paces by this high calibre local musician.
The recital begins at 4.30 and lasts about an hour.
Admission is by Donation
