Nerubashenko Ballet
A scene from 'Swan Lake': a ballerina is supported by her male partner as she arabesques, while the rest of the cast looks on.
Ballet lovers and newcomers alike will find joy and spectacle in the classical delights of Nerubashenko Ballet’s presentations.
Performing on January 12th and 13th, Swan Lake is a timeless tale: Prince Siegfried falls in love with Odette, Queen of the Swans but is tricked into the ultimate betrayal, leading to tragedy.
The Nutcracker follows on January 14th and 15th, and is a festive treat for all the family. Clara’s adventures begin when she is gifted a Nutcracker doll who magically comes to life…
A live orchestra performing the familiar scores is the perfect complement to these remarkable ballets.
This season the Smirnov-Golovanov productions will be presented by international artistes hand-picked by Ukrainian-born Ludmila Nerubashenko.
The legacy of the late Smirnov-Golovanov (Honoured Arts Worker of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and former Artistic Director of Odessa State Opera and Ballet Theatre) is preserved by his widow Ludmila Nerubashenko. Ukrainian-born Ludmila is the driving force in schooling young artistes with the physicality, artistry and creativity to faithfully interpret that legacy. She will select the cream of these young dancers to visit the UK in 2023.
