We begin our year with a work shrouded in myth and intrigue: Mozart’s remarkable Requiem. Commissioned by a shadowy stranger in mysterious circumstances, its dark, sombre palette suggests that the superstitious Mozart suspected he had been asked to write his own epitaph; the work was left incomplete on his premature death. In contrast, Mozart’s Solemn Vespers are anything but solemn – expect a riot of effervescent, joyful choral colour!
