A magical evening of summer choral music presented by Surrey’s premier choir. The sumptuous sounds of the likes of Delius, Vaughan Williams and Finzi will fill the grand spaces of Epsom’s largest historic building. Images of English summer idylls abound in songs including Delius’ ‘Summer Night on the Water’ and the exquisitely beautiful miniature ‘The Bluebird’ by Stanford. As a nod to her Majesty’s significant birthday this year, a collection of songs published as ‘A Garland for the Queen’ for her coronation will present masterpieces by Vaughan Williams, Finzi and Herbert Howells. Add to the mix the ‘Five Spirituals’ by Tippett and Britten’s ‘Five Flower Songs’ and it will be a true feast of the best of 20th music from these fair Isles. The programme has been devised by conductor Piers Maxim.
