Robert Senior has worked as an artist since completing his BA in Fine Art in the mid-eighties. Throughout this period, he has also worked with people suffering from mental illness and those with special needs, including several years with Mother Teresa's Missionary of Charity Brothers.

These areas of experience have been keenly formative in the spiritual nature and purpose of Senior's artistic practice. The work in this exhibition is intuitive, drawing on memories and imagination rather than observed sources, such as models and photographs. This encourages the bringing into play of apparently random elements or symbols, adding subconscious significance and depth to the image.
