Academy of Robotics
Kar-go Delivery Bot on the Hill Climb at its unveiling at Goodwood Festival of Speed
The Sci-Fi future is here. Self-driving delivery trials are taking place on the roads of Surrey and the team behind the technology, Academy of Robotics, is inviting local pupils and families to meet Kar-go, the self-driving delivery vehicle. Kar-go is a complete autonomous/self-driving delivery system, which includes the Kar-go Delivery Bot vehicle, the system which operates it and a remote command hub.
The Kar-go Delivery Bot is the first vehicle, custom-built for self-driving delivery to be licensed to drive on the roads of the UK.
On Saturday 21st August, as part of its technology trials in the area, the spaceship-like Kar-go Delivery Bot is making deliveries in the Nork, Banstead and Reigate and Burgh Heath areas for local boutique Something Special.
In the afternoon (from 3:30pm to 4:30pm), the vehicle will be on display at The Banstead Centre, The Horseshoe, SM7 2BQ for local school children and their families.
The children will have the opportunity to see the Kar-go Delivery Bot and talk to the team about:
How they have used robotics
How the AI system which controls it works.
How to get started in the tech sector and much more.
There will be ice-creams and refreshments available.
