Care UK's Jubilee House
A Godalming care home is inviting the local community to attend its free event for families caring for those living with dementia.
On Thursday 17th January from 6pm–8pm, the Care UK team at Jubilee House will open the home’s doors on Pound Lane for its Understanding Dementia event.
Dementia specialist, Suzanne Mumford, will be on hand to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia. There will also be support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers. The aim is to help people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones living with dementia.
After the event there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend will also have the chance to meet the friendly team at Jubilee House, and also take a closer look at the care home.
Totka Zhelyazkova, home manager at Jubilee House, said: “Looking after a friend or relative who is living with dementia can be challenging, and people are often confused about how to help them. Our event aims to offer professional knowledge and insight to those who need it – as well as providing a hub for shared experiences.
“It’s important to let people know they are not alone, and we are here to offer support. We’re looking forward to welcoming the local community to the home for an inspiring evening of information and guidance.”
Jubilee House has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential dementia and nursing dementia care, as well as respite care.
