The History of Royal Fashion
We scrutinise the fashions of British royals from the 14th century to the present day. How and why have these evolved? From the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection to contemporary texts, engravings, and photographs of British monarchs, their families and courtiers; we examine how fashion was worn to convey messages of power, status or to control their subjects. Did the royal family set trends and have they always demonstrated ‘good’ taste?
