No single inventor is credited with creating the medium of photography – the fixing of a ‘natural’ image started in many different formats. In this talk Matt Lindsey will introduce the philosophical and technological contexts surrounding the invention of the photographic medium. Matt Lindsey is Course Leader for MFA & BA (Hons) Photography at UCA, Farnham. His most recent essay ‘A Culture of Texts’ is due to be published in Wiley-Blackwell’s ‘A Companion to Photography’ in 2017.
