What is Heart of the Family?
Heart of the Family is a new campaign created to help break family cycles of early heart
disease and death from Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH). Heart of the Family aims to
increase awareness of FH to encourage earlier diagnosis and testing of family members as
prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help save lives. For most people with FH, it is an inherited condition where an altered gene causes exceptionally high cholesterol levels in the blood.1 FH runs in families and is passed from a parent to their child and can usually be traced over several generations.2
