Hatshepsut – The Queen who became King
Regarded as one of the most prominent women and successful pharaohs of the ancient world, Hatshepsut (c. 1507 – 1458 BC) ascended the throne in 1478 BC. The second female pharaoh in Egypt’s history, her rise to power was noteworthy, as it required her to utilise her bloodline, education, and understanding of religion. Despite attempts to erase her legacy from history, the temple she built is one of the most impressive self-publicising monuments to survive in Egypt.
