Equal parts fast-paced and soulful, 5-piece modern-folk Americana act, The Way Down Wanderers, draw listeners in with energy, originality and soulful generosity. Youthful and professionally trained, these young men captivate audiences with soaring instrumentals, foot stomping sing-alongs and a lively stage show and have created a buzz for themselves with their unplugged, off-stage encores and propensity for performing self-titled, “restSTOMPS” - free acoustic sets at rest & truck stops along their tour routes.
Grayshott Folk Club will be part of the band’s first ever UK tour.

CollinKrause-mandolin/fiddle/vocals

It's rare for a little-known band to make such an instantaneous and huge impact, but that's what happened when The Way Down Wanderers from Chicago, put out their new album in the UK, to see if it might cause the same kind of stir that it did on their home patch.
They became very hot property in the USA after creating an extraordinary buzz from exhilarating 'live' performances in 2015 and 2016, and were snapped up by The Americana Agency who represent a range of top roots music acts including The Stray Birds and Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys.
When the five-piece eventually issued their self-titled album on this side of the Atlantic, a collective Tsunami-like wave of "wow!" swept across the country. Reviews were once again glowing and the record picked up a massive amount of radio exposure too.
“They grabbed me from the first track," wrote Spencer Leigh at Country Music People,
while top reviewer Allan Wilkinson praised their "joyous free spirit" and said they were surely "set to become festival favourites."
Playing them repeatedly on his Another Country show, BBC presenter Ricky Ross told listeners: "we are REALLY liking this!"
Writing at AmericanaUK, Peter Churchill declared: "this is a band to watch," while Paul Strange at Acoustic magazine urged readers to "listen to something really different."
Meanwhile, in America, the band's reputation continued to grow and they won opportunities to appear on some of the biggest-audience TV and radio shows.
