Mike d'Abo & Friends
("Manfred Mann, The Manfreds and other songs and stories").
You probably already knew that Mike d'Abo was Manfred Mann's lead singer and that he sang on their hit songs "Ragamuffin Man", "Ha-Ha, Said The Clown", "My Name Is Jack" and their No.1 smash hit "Mighty Quinn". You may also know that he wrote "Handbags And Gladrags", originally for Chris Farlowe but it has more famously been recorded by Rod Stewart and The Stereophonics:

"Handbags and Gladrags" was also chosen as the theme tune for the hit BBC T.V. Series "The Office"-apparently because Ricky Gervais thinks it is the saddest song he has ever heard!
But did you know that Mike d'Abo also wrote "Build Me Up Buttercup" and many catchy and familiar jingles for T.V. commercials? There's a lot you may not know about Mike d'Abo but here is your chance to find out more, as he tells the story of his fascinating musical journey through words and songs.
