Low Lily (www.LowLily.com)
This delightful trio from Vermont, U.S.A. is led by Liz Simmons, who came over from the States and played for us a few years ago, alongside Hannah Sanders. This time Liz is touring the UK with her new band and they are paying us a visit before heading off to play at both the Maverick and Ely Festivals in July. Low Lily explore the roots and branches of American folk music, creating a unique brand of acoustic music that is rooted yet contemporary.
Liz Simmons (vocals, guitar), Flynn Cohen (vocals, guitar, mandolin) and Lissa Schneckenburger (vocals, fiddle), are masterful players, composers and arrangers with deep relationships to traditional music styles ranging from Bluegrass to Irish, Scottish, New England and Old Time Appalachian. These relatively young but well-seasoned musicians bring together their considerable strengths, experience and history to create an undeniably rich and versatile musical palette. Low Lily were recently voted #1 Most Wanted at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (NY), they have had two #1 songs on international folk radio. They have also been nominated for two New England Music Awards, so we are delighted they have agreed to play at Grayshott as part of their UK tour.

Led by singer/songwriter/guitarist David O'Brien, The Charcoal Burners are Haslemere's very own Americana/Folk band. They've already appeared at Grayshott Folk Club twice before and their mix of original songs and interpretations of traditional songs and tunes always goes down well with our audience. Tonight we will be the first audience to hear them play their brand new EP played live in its entirety.
