Garsons Farm
Crowds gathered to sample the delights at the Garsons Christmas Food Fair
A two-day Christmas Food Market at Garsons of Esher will bring a flavour-packed start to the festive season.
Held on Saturday and Sunday, November 17 and 18, in a marquee adjacent to the award-winning farm shop, the annual event will showcase seasonal foods and new inspirational ideas from the farm’s suppliers.
In a first for the Christmas Market, artisan producers from across Surrey and beyond, will be working together to create a host of festive entertaining ideas. Stallholders will guide food lovers on the best wines to go with their products, the best crackers for cheese, the best preserve for cold cuts, and much more.
Food blogger and regular shopper at Garsons, Bill Williamson of What Dad Cooked, will be demonstrating and giving tastings of the ingredients needed to make three new recipes he has created for the family-run business. Home cooks will learn how to make a delicious salad starter of beetroot and grilled halloumi, how to use Bevan’s Butchery award-winning sausages with squash to make a winter warming dish, and how to create a seasonally spiced apple and nut strudel. The recipe cards will be available to pick up at Garsons Farm Shop from end of October or on the Garsons website www.garsons.co.uk
There will be plenty of chances to taste new products such as Garsons festive cranberry bread or a carefully selected seasonal cheeseboard created by the farm shop’s delicatessen team, and there will be mulled wine and mince pies.
Visitors will also be able to taste elements of Garsons new Christmas gift hampers and have the chance to try the farm’s recently-launched personalised box of chocolates and its own chocolate bar.
As well as taking early orders for locally reared free-range turkey and other seasonal meats, Bevan’s Butchery will be popping its range of sausages on to a barbecue for tasty hot dogs, available throughout the two-day event.
“The Christmas Food Market will be packed with inspiration for warming winter treats and for Christmas entertaining,” says Amy Dunne, Garsons Farm Shop manager. “Visitors will be able to try before they buy, ask producers how to get the most out of their products, and pick up new ideas for seasonal cooking. We want the food market to be as interactive as possible so that visitors can immerse themselves in the sights, smells and tastes of seasonal food and drink.”
The Garsons Christmas Food Market is free to enter and there is plenty of parking for visitors. Garsons Christmas shop will also be open, located in the garden centre, where shoppers will find a range of gift ideas for all the family along with lights, decorations and trees.
• Garsons Christmas Food Market will run from 9am until 5pm on Saturday 17 November and 11am until 4pm on Sunday 18 November 2018
