The Epworth Choir will be holding its Autumn concert on October 29th at 7.30pm at St Dunstan’s Catholic Church, Shaftesbury Road, Woking. The programme will feature the well-known work: Schubert Mass in G, which is the most popular of six masses by the composer and was written in just under a week when he was 18! The concert will also feature ‘The Vivaldi Gloria’, which was composed by Vivaldi in around 1715. Now hugely popular, it was, in fact, little known until the late 1920s with the first modern performance in 1939. The balance of energetic choruses and beautiful solo movements have established it as one of the great choral works of the baroque period.
The Epworth Choir, which was established over 50 years ago, has a long tradition of supporting local charities. For this concert, the choir will be raising funds for Transform Housing and Support which provides housing and support for more than 1000 homeless and vulnerable people each year in Surrey, Sutton and Wokingham.
Tickets are £15 for adults and £5 for children under 12, and are available from Epworth Choir Box Office, Tel 01483 768136 or online at the Choir’s website: www.epworthchoir.org.
