Tapestry
Reference Point is a show by Domain_Material and invited collaborators. It presents a multimedia exhibition incorporating projection, painting, embroidery, print and performance.
How do we collect and mediate information? The artists have explored this theme through a research-based project that began by investigating various the individual testimonies of William Renwick, a surgical appliance maker and former inhabitant of One Paved Court; Donald Ward, a poet and M McQueen a union mineworker, antecedents of Amy and Chloe respectively. The artists have spent the six week residency developing the material into an exhibition that questions how we receive, perceive and understand information and the political implications of these questions.
Reference Point explores the variety of ways that artists can interpret data, imagery and sound to create new work, expanding the methods with which we communicate.
Exhibition includes free Artist’s Talk: Saturday 26 Feb 2.30pm
