Exploring Lewis Carroll's Own Wonderland - Essential Surrey - 1

In 2018, to mark the 120th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s passing in Guildford, Guildford Shakespeare Company’s co-founder Matt Pinches made a short film exploring the writer’s life in the town, including the home itself, his friends and activities here.

The film reveals a man very much part of the town’s Victorian society, and although public appearances were very few, Charles Dodgson was far from the recluse many assume him to have been.
