Congrego! Festival - World Heart Beat
Award-winning music academy, World Heart Beat adds an explosion of Latin American energy to this year’s Wandsworth Arts Fringe (WAF) with its Congrego! Festival on Thursday 1st July.
World Heart Beat, one of this year’s WAF grant awardees, introduces its Congrego! Festival (Latin for gather/join) which celebrates Latin American music and dance providing a vibrant and danceable showcase of Latin energy and culture. The fiesta, consisting of stunning curated performances provides a much-needed celebratory date for the diary that brings musicians, dancers and the public together after so much time apart.
Internationally-acclaimed Cuban violinist Omar Puente will be directing and performing with World Heart Beat’s young musicians in what promises to be a highly enjoyable programme of Cuban, Venezuelan and Brazilian music, as well as everyone’s favorite tracks from the Buena Vista Social Club repertoire and a performance from his own Cuban band.
From the excitement of Salsa and the wonderful rhythms of the Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, traditional Rumba and Son to the blood-racing energy of Latin Jazz the dynamic, high energy professional dancers from The Salsa Cabana Show will bring the warm 'Rhythms of Cuba' to you.
The Wandsworth Arts Fringe (WAF) Festival showcases artists from across all art forms, including street performances, exhibitions, comedy, theatre, music, dance and everything in between. The event runs from 25th June to 11th July across a number of venues across Wandsworth.
