The show consists of two one-Act plays…….
Last Panto in Little Grimley
“….hilarious slapstick, farce and mayhem!”
Directed by Harry Sadler, “Last Panto in Little Grimley” by David Tristram is a sequel to “Last Tango in Little Grimley”, which Cobham Players presented in 2005 as one of a trio of one-Act plays. The action takes place on the stage of a village hall. The four characters comprise the dysfunctional committee of a failing Amdram society that is desperately in need of a successful production.
The Chairman’s solution is to put on a pantomime written by himself. In-fighting, slapstick, farce and mayhem are the predictable results! This is a fast-moving comedy that audiences are certain to enjoy!
David Tristram is a much-performed English comic playwright who has published at least 24 plays, videos and a novel. Born in 1957, he founded the Flying Ducks Theatre Company in 1985 and his plays have been performed all round the world.
Lilies on the Land
“….a revealing and moving story of Britain’s great unsung heroes….the Women’s Land Army”
Based on scores of letters and interviews with original Land Girls and with songs from the period, “Lilies on the Land” charts the personal stories of four young women who sign up to become members of the Women’s Land Army in World War Two. How will these women, who hail from different walks of life, separated from their families and bereft of all basic home comforts, deal not only with the hardships of farming life and the pressures of war but also with being outsiders in new surroundings? Determined to do their bit for the War Effort and work endless, backbreaking hours on farms across the country, this is a revealing, funny and wonderfully moving portrait of some of Britain’s pluckiest, unsung heroes.
Directed by Rodney Pearson, this is a one-Act play adapted from a full-length production devised by a co-operative theatre company called the Lions part. “Lilies on the Land” will be Cobham Players entry in the Leatherhead Drama Festival in May – a competition that Cobham Players won in 2013.
