Kingsmead House is holding a Mad Hatters Tea Party as part of a special Open Day at the new private nursing home next Sunday (September 13).
The care home, in Mytchett Road, Mytchett, opened earlier this summer and offers 24-hour resident nursing and respite care on an ‘all inclusive’ basis.
The aim of the Open Day, which will be opened by Surrey Heath Mayor Joanne Potter at 1.30pm, is to provide entertainment for the residents of Kingsmead House and their families. It also gives non-residents, members of the community and other visitors the chance to experience the new care home for themselves and meet home manager Karen Temple and her friendly team.
Staff at Kingsmead House will be putting on cream teas in the care home’s beautiful courtyard gardens on long decorated tables in the theme of Alice in Wonderland’s Mad Hatters Tea Party with a prize for the ’maddest hat’.
There will be music entertainment from the Melody Gals and the Chelsea Pensioners, the ex-British soldiers famous for their scarlet coats and black tricorn coats, will also be in attendance. Classic cars will be on show in front of Kingsmead House, while a raffle will be held later on in the day with lots of prizes on offer.
The Open Day will appeal to children too as Kingsmead House has invited Miller's Ark who will be setting up its mini mobile farm by the care home's putting green. The Mobile Farm can include sheep, lambs, goats, piglets, miniature donkeys, ponies, ducks, geese, hens, chicks, rabbits, guinea pigs and a farm dog with the emphasis on touching and feeding the animals to build confidence and awareness.
Mrs Temple said: "We are looking forward to putting on a show for our residents and welcoming guests to Kingsmead House. It's sure to be a great fun day out for the whole family with something for everybody, young or old. We've only been open for a few months so it will be wonderful to meet members of the community and show people around Kingsmead House."
Kingsmead House is built over three floors with large communal lounges and its facilities include a hair salon, piano bar/café with Wifi, and library. Residents even have a chauffeur-driven Mercedes available to take them for shopping trips into town and there is an on-site chef.
Thee care home has 40 bedroom suites with en-suite facilities and is equipped to provide nursing support for elderly people living with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, tracheostomies and end of life care.
