In this illustrated talk, Dr. Cliff Lauson will provide an overview of Bridget Riley’s practice, from her ground-breaking 1960s black and white works to more recent wall paintings. While Riley’s approach to painting has remained consistent over the decades, Dr. Lauson will explore the cycles and variations that have and continue to unfurl within.
Dr. Cliff Lauson is Senior Curator at the Hayward Gallery, where he has curated major exhibitions of work by Martin Creed, Ernesto Neto, Tracey Emin, and Bridget Riley, as well as the critically-acclaimed group exhibitions Light Show (2013) and Space Shifters (2018). He currently serves on the British Council Collection Acquisitions Advisory Committee and is a Trustee of Film and Video Umbrella.
