Barbara Beaumont
Paradise Paved II, Barbara Beaumont
We are excited to be exhibiting new paintings by Barbara Beaumont at the New Ashgate Gallery. Barbara has exhibited widely, including the Royal Academy and the Mall Galleries, London.
This collection of work is Barbara’s response to the loss of green and wild spaces. As more open land is covered by buildings, it leaves less countryside to keep us in touch with the natural world. We forget what was there before - ghosts of trees.
Just as important as the idea, is the arrangement of shapes and colours. Every picture presents its own problems to be solved and it is this which is endlessly varied and interesting, and what keeps Barbara painting.
Barbara is inspired by ordinary, everyday occurrences such as a news item or a glimpse of something from a train or a car.
She finds that the memory will go through many alterations and adjustments before it feels right and expresses the feeling of the initial idea.
